The Scary Truth about HPV

It is estimated that 3 in 4 sexually active Canadians will have at least one HPV infection in their lifetime.

HPV is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases.

HPV is most common in young adults (late teens to early 20s).

Although warts are visible, the virus is not. Your partner can have the virus and have no signs of HPV.

Almost 100% of cervical cancer is caused by HPV. 400+ Canadians die from this cancer every year.

Every year, there are 1300 new cases of cervical cancer in Canada.

Every 10 minutes, one Canadian develops genital warts.

Genital warts can be removed, but there is no cure. They can come back.

Cervical cancer is the 4th most common cancer in women worldwide.
